----------------------------------------------------------------------
README for the GoldED 2.42.G1219 GAMMA Patch Release.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This archive contains patch updates (*.BDF files) which fixes bugs in
GoldED and GoldNODE. The patches apply ONLY to the 2.42.G1218 version.
To apply a GoldED patch, use the freeware BUPDATE utility which is
included in this package.
NOTE: The BUPDATE which is included here is a patched (by me) version
1.24a which is fixed for the bug in an OS/2 box where the EXE file
time was not set correctly.
Run BUPDATE <patch>.BDF to patch the matching *.EXE. The original is
renamed to *.OLD.
See the NEWS*.DOC and NOTE*.DOC files for information about the fixes,
additions and changes in this release.
Files in the patch archive (GPAT1219.ZIP):
GOLDED.BDF Patch update for GoldED, DOS real mode.
GED2.BDF Patch update for GoldED/2, OS/2 2.x.
GEDP32.BDF Patch update for GoldED/P32, DOS protected mode.
NEWS1219.DOC Brief news since 2.41.
NOTE1219.DOC Technical notes since 2.41.
READ1219.DOC The file you are reading now.
BUPDATE.EXE BUpdate 1.24a. Patch update utility.
12181219.BAT Batchfile to create new full archives.
You may re-assemble the orignal G1218 archives after applying the
patches so form new full G1219 archives. If you want to do that,
please follow this guideline:
1. Replace the .EXE files with the patched versions. Make sure the
timestamps are correct, especially if running BUPDATE under OS/2.
The time must be 02:42:00 and the date 93-12-19.
2. Replace the NEWS*.DOC and NOTE*.DOC files with the ones from the
patch archives.
3. Add any new *.DOC files from the patch archives, such as this
document.
4. Do NOT include the *.BDF files or BUPDATE.EXE.
5. Include all other files from the original G1218 archives,
including orderforms, registration documents etc.
6. Archive the whole thing with filenames matching GE?G1219.*.
The file 12181219.BAT is a DOS batchfile you could use to create the
new archives, assuming that you have the original archives and the
patch archive in the current directory.
If you are unsure what this batch file does, THEN DON'T USE IT!!!
Enjoy!
